Oak Savanna Wine

2004 Oak Savanna One Thousand Hills Magnum
A gorgeous MAGNUM sized bottle of this stunning blend

This is the 2nd release of this stunning, and very limited, vintage of this proprietary blend, whose name conjures up images of the native terrain of the Oak Savanna Vineyard. It is made up of 60% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc. The wine is as unique as the place from which it comes. It is very fruit-forward for such a young wine, with aromas and flavors of black cherry, blueberry, and cassis. It is complexed with spicy notes that include black pepper, tar and toasty oak.

The wine has been ageing in the bottle in our cellar for the better part of a year and it is drinking beautifully. Very few magnums were produced, make sure to secure yours today!

We specialize in producing exceptional, small fermentation lot, hand-crafted, artisanal wines reflecting the finest characteristics and expressions of our vineyard, located in Los Olivos, California, in the Santa Ynez Valley just north of Santa Barbara. Oak Savanna Vineyard produces outstanding, limited production Chardonnay and Syrah, under the supervision of our winemaker, Andrew Murray.

Andrew works closely with our vineyard manager, Felipe Hernandez, to select the best possible fruit for our hand-crafted wines. Andrew adheres to the notion that fine wines are made in the vineyard, and then, once in the cellar, they are "merely taken care of." The wines are crafted with as few inputs as possible, and great care is taken to make sure that no character is lost. The resulting wines speak volumes in their aromas and flavors of the beautiful place that is Oak Savanna Vineyard.

We produce two principal wines from our Foxen Canyon Road Estate, a Chardonnay and a red blend, "One Thousand Hills." The Chardonnay is all about the fresh fruit flavors of green apples, Asian pear, and citrus notes braced up by a nutty-oakiness from the indulgent French Oak aging. The proprietary "One Thousand Hills" is a blend of the three red grapes we grow: Syrah, Tempranillo, and Sangiovese. These varieties were chosen for their optimum suitability to our unique microclimate. They are all Mediterranean varieties and thus, marry well together. The resulting wine has aromas and flavors of black cherry, raspberries, currants, rose petal, and a spicy oakiness.

In addition to producing wines from the grapes grown on the Estate, we offer wines under the Oak Savanna Cellars label, which are made from grapes grown in vineyards with microclimates better suited to other varietals. Oak Savanna Cellars wines include a Pinot Noir, grown in the cooler, coastal climate of Santa Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley, and a Sauvignon Blanc from the warmer reaches of Santa Ynez Valley.
